New Saturday Night Live Cards Coming

Rittenhouse Archives continues to be busy with new (to them, at least) licenses. First it was LOST, which came over to the company after Inkworks went under. Now comes word that Saturday Night Live is part of the company's plans.

The possibilities for such a set are endless. Even if licensing restrictions don't allow for them to cover the many, many guest stars that have appeared over the years, you've got enough home grown talent in there to keep the sets coming and coming. Imagine the autograph possibilities, no matter how long a shot. There's originals like Eddie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray, past stars like Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell and current favorites such as Andy Samberg.

There's no info or timeline as of yet for Rittenhouse's SNL set, but count me excited.

This won't be the first set to be released based on the late-night hit. Star Pics made a set back in 1992. It had 150 cards covering many of the characters from the show's history up until that time. Several autographs can also be found including Sandler, Mike Myers and Chris Rock, plus late stars Phil Hartman and Chris Farley. However, there is much debate as to where these autographs came from. Some question packs, while I've also heard speculation that they may have come from a shop-at-home TV offer. Boxes of the StarPics set can be found on eBay for under $20.

I'll try and find more information on the new set when I return home in a couple of weeks.
